Pitching a Field Documentation Project
What We Publish
The almanac publishes field documentation: sustained observation of eating and movement patterns conducted over a defined period, in a real context, by a writer willing to document rather than dictate. We do not publish opinion columns, product reviews, or recipe collections.
How to Pitch
Send a brief summary of the documentation project — no more than three paragraphs — outlining the subject, the observation period, and the writer's relationship to the material. Include a short biography and one or two links to previous writing. Full drafts are not required at pitch stage.
Response Time
The editorial office reads all pitches and aims to respond within ten working days. If a pitch is not suitable for the current editorial calendar, a brief note will be sent explaining why. Submissions are not returned.
